Dr. Saad Saad is a retired pediatric surgeon who has spent a good portion of his life serving others. As he begins a new phase of his life, he continues to offer his thoughts and wisdom to anyone who will listen. He was born in Palestine during a crucial turning point in history when the State of Israel was being put together.
Many Palestinians were being relocated, and his family, unfortunately, was among them. When they left their home, they didn’t know that they would never be coming back, but instead of giving up, his family moved to Kuwait.
D. Saad Saad learned a lot from his father, who served as a petroleum mechanic in the Middle East. Once in Kuwait, his father told him that he would need to get a good education to earn the respect of others. This stayed in the doctors mind for many years.
After experiencing the heat of the burning sun while working at a construction site one summer, he realized that he wanted to work indoors. He learned that surgery rooms are always air conditioned, and he soon made the choice to become a pediatric surgeon.
Dr. Saad Saad was recently interviewed, and he commented that people should never wait until tomorrow to do finish what they can take care of today. He has followed his advice for a good portion of his career and has learned that a strong working ethic is crucial to succeeding in the world. The doctor moved to the United States when he was younger and became a US Board Certified pediatric surgeon. During the 1980s, he was asked to move to the Middle East to serve the Saudi Royal family as their pediatric surgeon. They wanted his services because he was the only pediatric surgeon in the United States who could speak, both, English and Arabic fluently. He didn’t hesitate to answer the call and also served many other Middle Easterners while there.
Dr. Saad Saad eventually moved back to the United States and began to work on some ideas he had been wanting to turn into inventions. One of his inventions has to do with the endoscope, which is a medical device that is used during surgery to help surgeons see inside of their patient’s body.
The problem he solved has to do with the way that endoscopes get fogged up because of liquids and gases in the human body. He invented a suction device that replaced the anti-fog port on endoscopes, and it works to suck up gas and liquid so surgeons have no need to remove it to clean it up.
He also invented an electromagnetic catheter that can easily be found in the body by scanning a person with device. Thanks to his inventive mind and wisdom, many people will be spared unnecessary pain and suffering.
